The ideas like “Choosing a metal roof”, “Provide cover over entrances”, “The right window style” are all implemented in my design of the hostel. It is interesting to understand more about these design logic.

This article enumerates 8 different and extinct buildings built by skilled artists and architectures in cold climate. It is an interesting reading full of beautiful pictures of the architectures. From those pictures we can see that every and each one of those architecture design copes with their environment perfectly, whether it’s the Mirage Gstaadt by Doug Aitken, or the transparent Glass House by Santambrogio. Other houses that are not using special materials blend themselves with design, like the Queenstown house by Monk Mackenzie, and the The Yabuli Conference Centre by MAD.
“Calafate Hostel / Hauser Oficina de Arquitectura”
This article talks about one hotel project in Argentina. The article analyzes the design logic of the hostel, including the materials, interior design, and exterior design. The reason I choose this article is because the similarity of the project to my project at Elk Island National Park. By understanding the material used in the building, the design of the commuter areas, and how the building cope with its environment, readers can have a different view on my design logic.

It is very useful for clients who wish to learn more about buying or building their own beach houses. Architects usually combine those 7 important features to design one good architecture. My project on Laguna beach houses also contains several of these features.
“Why Top Architects Love Butterfly Roofs”
This article covers an very interesting topic about roof design mostly used by contemporary designers. It talks about one particular roof style: sloped roofs, especially butterfly roofs. Although my project used a different approach, butterfly roofs are so widely used by modern architects it is interesting to know about.
“Solar Powered Homes For The Wealthy”
This article lists 8 examples of solar panels used in luxury architectures. All the 8 examples in this article are powered by sustainable energy. This article shed some light in nowadays popular solar energy use. Although popular, solar panels are less used in luxury houses than middle class houses mostly because of the lack of awareness of the rich. My project has the potential of building solar panels on the roof, similar to some of the examples in this article.
